Your workplace

This location at Schiphol Airport is located behind security in Schengen lounge 25 and Intercontinental in lounge 52. In these lounges, our guests can stay, work, relax and enjoy every comfort before flying. In the lounges, guests can make use of several stations and buffets where food and drinks can be obtained. From delicious starters to main courses to a delicious coffee from our barista with patisserie. It's all there! A vibrant and dynamic environment is where you will end up and, together with your colleagues, you will provide the ultimate guest experience! 

Working hours are between 04:30 and 23:00 from Monday to Sunday for 365 days a year.

Your team

As a valued colleague for the KLM Crown lounges at Schiphol Airport, you will work in one of the coolest lounges at Schiphol. You will perform all common tasks here with a smile on your face. Together with about 50 other colleagues a day, you will ensure a comfortable and hospitable atmosphere for the guests. With your hospitality, you make everyone feel welcome and it seems as if time flies by.

Your job

Today, Wednesday, is practice day for you. A quick chat with colleagues and then you are ready to pop into the kitchen of this catering location at an airport. First some preparatory work and checking the kitchen stock. Your mentor, an experienced (chef) cook, then asks if you would like to observe a number of dishes. This way, you learn more about certain techniques and the layout of a plate. Great, you've been given some good tips and tricks and get to work on preparing the best dishes yourself.

At the end of the practical day, you discuss the rest of the week with your mentor. The rest of the week you go back to school for your other subjects, next week you'll be back. You have gained a lot of practical experience today!

Besides good supervision at your work placement, you can also take a look at other Vermaat catering locations. With around 400 locations, there are enough possibilities and opportunities for you to stay on after your internship or come back after school.

Your ingredients

  • You are taking a hospitality-related BOL course. You can see which accreditations we have at this location at the bottom of this vacancy.
  • You are looking for an internship for at least 12 weeks.
  • You really want to make a flying start within the hospitality industry.
  • You are a real catering and hospitality nut and want to learn everything about this profession
