Your workplace

The Base is a multi tenant location at Schiphol Airport. The Base has an a la carte restaurant and a company restaurant where we serve a varied lunch buffet. Restaurant Viva is open Monday to Friday between 08:00 - 15:00. From Tuesday to Thursday, we serve drinks here until 20:00. On request, we are also open for Dinner/Banqueting. Our company restaurant The Market is open from 11:30 - 14:00 where we serve lunch to around 300 guests every day. In addition, we provide banqueting upon request.  

Your team

The Base's team consists of 10 colleagues and a hospitality manager. Half of them work in the kitchen and the other half take care of service. 

Your job

At this location, you can certainly express your culinary talents. As head chef at Vermaat, you will be challenged every day to serve guests a varied menu. Using only fresh quality products. A standard menu cycle is not an option. You surprise guests every day with your creativity, eye for detail and knowledge of different cuisines. Whether it's a sandwich, salad, smoothie or hot dish, your taste makes you want more. In your role as head chef, you are also responsible for managing and supervising the kitchen team. You know how to convey your passion for the job to your colleagues like no other. In addition, you take care of the work schedules, purchasing and some administration.

Your ingredients

  • You have a completed cooking education at MBO level and a few years of relevant work experience.
  • You have good knowledge of allergies, dietary requirements, food trends and preparation times, and know how to put this knowledge to practical use.
  • You have knowledge of regulations in the field of HACCP, working conditions and safety.
  • You know what is going on in the world of food and drink and like to translate developments and innovations to your kitchen.
  • You prefer to work with a lot of freedom and your own input and ideas (your personal touch).
